Nomad Son @ Doom Metal Assault Vol 1 21/3/09 @ Poxx Bar, Paceville, Malta We are honoured to be welcoming Greece's forement epic doom metal band Reflection on stage for the first edition of the Doom Metal Assault. A three-way bill featuring the said Reflection, Nomad Son and newcomers Dawn of Anguish. Please go through the following text for more details on each band and the event. Our intention is to organise more editions of this event in the future and hopefully team up with fellow doom bands from abroad and in Malta and thus continue to nurture the local doom scene: "Greek epic doom metal titans Reflection whose recent album "When Shadows Fall" was released on Italy's Cruz Del Sur Records (Italy) to strong acclaim, join forces with Malta's very own doom heavyweights Nomad Son and upcoming local stalwarts Dawn of Anguish for a three-way doom metal assault at Poxx Bar, Paceville, Malta on Saturday 21st March 2009. Reflection shall be showcasing tracks from their new album, plus vintage material from their back catalogue which spans close to twenty years. The Athens-based band is now fronted by Leo Stivala (Forsaken, Malta) and are considered to be amongst Greece's metal elite, as evidenced by their cult following in their home country, and have shared the stage with some of metal's leading bands including Solitude Aeturnus (USA) and NWOBHM legends Demon and Tokyo Blade. Hot on the heels of the success of their debut release "First Light" on Italy's Metal-on-Metal Records, Nomad Son (who have amassed considerable following locally and abroad since the album's release) shall be hitting Germany for the first time next July at the Headbangers Open Air Warm Up together with USA power metal legends Vicous Rumours and Italy's Trinakrius and Battle Ram. The band is shall be adding some new numbers to their established live set that draws significantly from all the crowd favourites on "First Light". Dawn of Anguish were launched to strong acclaim amongst local enthusiasts last January at a fundraising event at the Valletta Waterfront and aim to continue to consolidate their budding reputation as an uncompromising, no-nonsense doom metal formation. The band shall be hitting at stage again next May at the Malta Doom Metal Festival and should be embarking on their debut recording later this year. Clearly, an event that should not be missed. Nomad Son confirmed for the HOA (Germany) warm-up show 22nd July 2009! We had promised all of you out there that we shall be taking our show on the road in Europe next here...and now it's confirmed! We shall be hitting the stage at the Planet Alsen, in Itzehoe Germany, on July 22nd 2009. The billing now reads as follows: Vicious Rumours (US, 80's power metal legends) Trinakrius (Italy, awesome power doom metal!) Battle Ram (Italy, great epic metal!) Nomad Son (Malta, heavy doom metal!) We are also presently working on some other German dates around our HOA warm-up show. Expect more news to be posted here and our myspace page shortly.

Nomad Son on National Radio in Poland
Nomad Son's "Shallow Grave" was featured on the playlist for "Minimax" radio show on sunday, August 17th 2008 on the Polish national radio station - Polish Radio Programme III. Minimax, is hosted by Piotr Kaczkowski, a world renowned presenter and music journalist. The show also featured other bands from Metal on Metal Records and a special half-hour slot to dedicated our label. By popular demand, Nomad Son's "Empyrean Fade" was also broadcasting a week after on the same show

Nomad Son CD Launch Gig - Afterword
The band can't thank the true Nomad Son supporters present at last Saturday's unforgettable debut cd launch gig. There really couldn't have been a better way to introduce "First Light" to the faithful and we are really grateful to all those who showed up on the night and backed every note that we played with some of the most passionate support ever withnessed at the Poxx bar. Heartfelt thanks are also due to Mark, Andre, Jade and Audrey from Archaic Descent for giving their all on stage and for all their collaboration on the nite. We wish you well and we are sure that Archaic Descent will continue to regale the local metal scene with some of the finest metal around. Nomad Son is also grateful to Paul, Luigi and all at Poxx Bar for making this milestone event possible for the band, Joe and all @ Genaudio for the awesome PA and for the true professionalism, Simone and Jowita from Metal on Metal Records (Italy) for honouring us with their presence at the gig, Jean Pierre, Cedric and Dino for the video filming, lights and a fantastic track list respectively, Mike "Adonis" Sammut for the continued support and superb creativity, and last but not least, Mons, James Gauci and co for being as resourceful and committed to the band as always.

Nomad Son shall be lauching their debut cd "First Light" (out early July 2008 on Italy's Metal-on-Metal Records (www.metal-on-metal.com) at Poxx Bar Paceville, Saturday 19th July 2008. Nomad Son are proud to announce old school melodic death metal band Archaic Descent (feat. the talents of the experienced Andre Camilleri on vox, formerly Dusk and Oblique Visions and Memento Nostri Guitarist Mark Tagliaferro, ex-Arachnid) as special guests for the nite. Band Statement:
Nomad Son would like to express their deep and heart felt thanks to the hordes of doom who made their way to the Poxx Bar (Paceville) last Saturday 3rd May and whose die-hard support throughout the event helped to make the night such a special and memorable one for all in the band. Salutations are also due to Genaudio for doing such an excellent job on the sound system, the management at Poxx and Lithomancy for all their co-operation in preparation and throughout the gig and moreover, for regaling the audience with an onslaught of pure old school death metal which helped to the proceeds even more unforgettable. Nomad Son shall be hitting the stage at Poxx Bar again on Saturday, 19th July 2008 for the launch of the band’s debut CD “First Light” which is going to be released shortly on Italy’s premier metal label – Metal on Metal Records. Merchandise offers shall be available on the night.

>Nomad Son, consisting of Forsaken bassist Albert Bell and Frenzy Mono members Chris and Julian Grech (guitars and keyboards respectively), Edward Magri (drums) and Jordan Cutajar (vocals), are delighted to announce that they have signed a record deal with Italy's Metal on Metal Records. This independent metal-oriented label includes various bands pursuing variants of the traditional heavy metal idiom. Other bands on the label include Catch 22 (USA), Heathendom (Greece), Skelator (USA) and Metal Law (Germany). Samples of each band, including Nomad Son, may be downloaded from the band's website at www.metal-on-metal.com . Nomad Son's debut album, titled “First Light”, shall be released worldwide at the beginning of July 2008 and will be launched locally at a later date. The album shall feature new tracks penned by the band in recent months and re-worked versions of “Shallow Grave” and “Empyrean Fade”. The original demo versions of these two tracks are appearing exclusively on Metal on Metal's label sampler CD, released for promotional purposes.

Meanwhile, fans may catch Nomad Son live at Poxx Bar, Paceville on Saturday, May 3 rd 2008. Veteran atmospheric death metal band Lithomancy shall be co-headlining the event and shall be playing a set list that is representative of their eventful and trailblazing history. Clearly, a great billing which should not be missed by local metal fans.

The band shall be making an official announcement on the release date of the album, full track listing and other details shortly.
